Practical Paediatric Allergy
An intensive taught course for clinicians working with children with allergies
23-25 February, 2009 • Governors Hall, St Thomas’ Hospital, London

This new three day intensive course is designed for clinicians who work with allergic
children but have not been able to access formal education or training. This course will
not involve academics presenting their own research findings. It will be practically focused
and led by practising doctors working in the field of clinical allergy.

The primary aims of the course are to provide:
• an introduction to the immunology of allergy with emphasis on clinical relevance
• an understanding of the spectrum of childhood allergic disease and its presentation
• evidence-based strategies for diagnosis & treatment
• demonstrations of practical skills such as allergy testing and provocation challenges
• a foundation for clinical research or service development

This course would be suitable for anybody who sees children with allergies in their
day to day practice. It will be of particular benefit to GPs, Paediatricians, Dermatologists, ENT surgeons, specialist nurses & dieticians as well as speciality registrars.

Delegates will also receive written material to support the lectures and seminars. CPD accreditation from the RCPCH has been applied for.

As well as the core programme, there will also be a complimentary social programme with an educational component, provided by our sponsors. Delegates will also get a heavily subsidised concessionary rate if they wish to attend the Seminar on Urticaria and Anaphylaxis to be held on February 26th.

In recognition of its educational value, the course has been endorsed by the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and also received the patronage of the Pediatric Section of the European Academy of Allergy & Clinical Immunology.
